    How these holidays work

The rules that decide whether you can take a day off, and what happens when a holiday lands on a weekend.

In addition to the days listed here, all Sundays and the second Saturday of every English month are closed holidays for public offices under the Government of Kerala.

The three restricted holidays are community-specific: they may be availed by government, quasi-government and public sector employees and teachers belonging to the community named against each day.

Kerala also notifies that 4 March 2026 (Wednesday) is a holiday for all State Government offices and public sector undertakings functioning in New Delhi, on account of Holi.

Click any date on the calendar to attach a remark — a leave application, a reminder, a family function. Remarks are saved in your browser, never uploaded, and are included when you print.

    Frequently asked questions

Answers based on the official notification and the leave rules that govern it.

COUNT How many holidays are there in the Kerala government calendar 2026?

The Kerala government holiday list for 2026 contains 25 public/gazetted holidays and 3 restricted holidays, as notified by the General Administration Department, Government of Kerala.

SOURCE Where can I download the official Kerala holiday list 2026 PDF?

The notification is issued by the General Administration Department, Government of Kerala (G.O. (P) No. 14/2025/GAD). The official PDF is linked from the download panel on this page, and opens directly on the government website.

VS Is the Kerala holiday list the same as the Central Government list?

No. Kerala issues its own annual holiday notification, which includes regional festivals that do not appear on the DoPT Central list, and may omit some Central holidays. Only Republic Day, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti are common to both. Central Government offices located within the state follow the Central list, not the state one.

RH What is the difference between a public holiday and a restricted holiday?

A public or gazetted holiday closes the office for everyone. A restricted holiday is optional: an employee may choose it in place of working, within the limit set by the state, and must inform the controlling officer in advance.
